The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) is an independent agency of the Ontario government responsible for administering standardized assessments to evaluate student achievement and ensure accountability within the province’s publicly funded education system. These assessments measure students' knowledge and skills in reading, writing, and mathematics based on the expectations outlined in the Ontario Curriculum. EQAO tests are designed to assess whether students are meeting provincial standards and to help identify areas where additional support may be required.

EQAO assessments are conducted at key stages of a student’s academic journey. In Grade 3 and Grade 6, students complete assessments focused on reading, writing, and mathematics to evaluate foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
