How We Track Your Child's Progress

Initial Assessment

Diagnostic Test Free Assessment University Acceptance High School Top 6 Grade 12 Grade 11 Grade 10 9

Initial Assessment

Why is an assessment conducted at the start before any tutoring begins?

An assessment (which is optional for the student to take) will be conducted during the student's first ever tutoring class. The purpose of this assessment is to find out the student's current level of understanding in the subject they are seeking tutoring for, prior to any of the tutoring starting. The assessment tells us where the student's current level of understanding is in the respective subject. This helps us design a custom academic study plan tailored towards the student's specific weaknesses.

What is the assessment exactly?

The initial assessment given to the student will depend on the subject & grade they are seeking tutoring for. The initial assessment used to measure their understanding of the subject they are seeking tutoring for will either be (Assessment Type 1) the previous grade's final exam for the same subject or (Assessment Type 2) the current grade's unit test of an upcoming test. If the student is preparing for a subject well before the starting date of them taking the subject in school, then Assessment Type 1 is conducted. If the student is currently taking the subject in school, and they need immediate help for upcoming tests, then Assessment Type 2 is conducted. The assessment is designed similarly to a regular school test or exam. The assessment will include Knowledge & Understanding, Thinking & Inquiry, Application, and Communication questions that are relevant to the high school course the student is seeking tutoring for.

What does the assessment tell us about the student?

The assessment reveals key insights of a student's academic performance, including:

(1) their overall understanding of the curriculum content in the respective course

(2) the specific concepts and types of questions the student is scoring correctly

(3) the specific concepts and types of questions the student is scoring incorrectly

(4) the student's fundamental knowledge on prerequisite concepts & theories

(5) an estimation of the student's current intelligence level

(6) the student's test-taking ability

(7) the student's cognitive ability, including critical thinking skills

(8) the student's memory levels & memorization ability

(9) the student's processing speed & problem-solving skills

(10) the student's ability to initiate the process of solving a never-seen-before question

Tracking Progress Over the months

Academic Progression Grade 9 10 11 12 High School Secondary School

Tracking Progress Over the Months

  • The student's intelligence quotient (IQ) will be systematically monitored over a period of several months, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of their cognitive development and academic progress. Throughout this period, detailed data on the student's academic performance will be collected, highlighting areas of improvement, strengths, and potential challenges. A graphical representation of the student's progress will be created, showcasing a month-by-month breakdown of their IQ growth alongside their academic achievements, providing a clear visual of their overall development.

  •  The student's academic and cognitive growth will be benchmarked against the intelligence quotients of students within the same geographic region, specifically focusing on their city and province. This comparative analysis will consider students of the same age group to ensure an accurate and fair assessment. By examining both classroom and regional metrics, parents will gain a comprehensive understanding of how their child's academic progress and IQ align with those of their peers in the same educational and socio-economic environment. This in-depth comparison offers valuable insights, empowering parents to make informed decisions about their child's educational journey.

Why is tracking a student's general intelligence level important?

Tracking a student's IQ over time while they are in a tutoring center's academic enrichment program is important for several reasons:

  1. Measure Cognitive Growth: Monitoring IQ progression provides insight into a student’s cognitive development. It helps identify whether the tutoring program is effectively enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and reasoning skills over time.
  2. Personalized Learning: By tracking changes in IQ, tutors can tailor their teaching methods to suit the student's evolving learning abilities. If certain aspects of the student's cognitive growth are not progressing as expected, tutors can adjust the curriculum to better meet their needs.
  3. Identify Strengths and Weaknesses: Regular IQ assessments can reveal areas where the student excels or struggles. This information is valuable for developing a more targeted approach to help strengthen weaker cognitive areas while nurturing strengths.
  4. Motivation and Goal Setting: Showing students and parents measurable progress in cognitive abilities can be highly motivating. It allows students to see the impact of their hard work, encouraging them to set and achieve new academic goals.
  5. Parental Insight: Tracking IQ provides parents with a clear and objective measure of their child's development, helping them understand how their child compares to peers and making informed decisions about their education.
  6. Long-term Educational Planning: Knowing how a student’s cognitive abilities are evolving can help in planning their future academic paths, including selecting appropriate courses, extracurricular activities, or specialized programs that align with their strengths and learning style.

Overall, tracking IQ over time in a tutoring environment helps ensure that educational strategies are aligned with the student's growth, leading to a more effective and personalized learning experience.
