Students enrolling in Tutor STEM's online tutoring program require only a computer or laptop and a stable internet connection. Classes are conducted via Zoom, Google Meet, or telephone, depending on the student's and parents' preferences. For video conferencing, parents can choose between three options: (1) both the tutor and student use webcams, enabling them to see each other, (2) only the tutor's face is visible while the student's face remains private, or (3) neither the tutor nor the student use webcams.
The program also utilizes an advanced interactive online whiteboard, designed to enhance engagement and learning. This whiteboard enables writing, drawing, typing, uploading images and videos, as well as screen-sharing functionality. Both the tutor and student can share their screens, allowing for seamless collaboration, whether reviewing materials or solving problems together in real time.
The teaching is 1 on 1. There is one student per one teacher.
Online learning offers unparalleled flexibility and accessibility, making it an excellent alternative to traditional in-person learning. Students can attend sessions from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for commuting. This convenience also allows for more personalized scheduling, accommodating busy family routines and extracurricular activities.
Additionally, online platforms provide advanced tools that enhance the learning experience. Interactive whiteboards enable real-time collaboration through writing, drawing, typing, uploading media, and screen sharing, fostering a dynamic and engaging approach to teaching. Virtual classes via Zoom or Google Meet offer customizable levels of interaction, including options for full webcam use, partial visibility, or audio-only communication, catering to individual comfort levels.
Online learning also expands access to experienced educators who may not be available locally, giving students access to a wider pool of subject matter experts. With no geographic constraints, families can select the best fit for their child’s academic needs. The technology-driven approach further builds digital literacy skills, preparing students for modern academic and professional environments. Overall, online learning provides a highly adaptable, resource-rich, and student-centered alternative to in-person learning.
